Astrology and Conscious Evolution |
 |
Presented
By: |
Dr.
Glenn Perry |

Date(s): |
Monday,
August 16 (MOB4) |
|
Description: |
The central premise of astrology is that the positions of
the Sun, Moon, and planets at the moment of birth are related to the
intrinsic character and later development of that individual. Because
Cosmic Being is microcosmically embodied in human beings, the
evolutionary intent of the cosmos is evident in the self-actualizing
dynamics of the psyche; thus, not only does the birthchart symbolize
character structure, it depicts the trajectory of personal evolutionary
unfoldment-what Jung called the path of individuation. In this workshop,
we'll examine the charts of workshop participants. By using astrology
to become aware of one's own path, participants are empowered to
consciously cooperate with the cosmos in a co-creative, evolutionary
process.

Presentation: |
Beating Cancer with Nutrition |
 |
Presented
By: |
Dr.
Patrick Quillin |
Date(s): |
Friday,
August 13 (FRA5) |
|
Description: |
Nutrition is a low-cost,
non-toxic, and scientifically-proven helpful component in the
comprehensive treatment of cancer. Adjuvant (helpful) nutrition and
traditional oncology are synergistic, not antagonistic. The advantages
in using an aggressive nutrition program in comprehensive cancer
treatment are, in this critical order of importance:
1) avoiding malnutrition.
2) reducing the toxicity of
medical therapy while making chemotherapy and radiation more selectively
toxic to the tumor cells.
3) stimulating immune function.
4) selectively starving the
tumor.
5) nutrients acting as
biological response modifiers assist host defense mechanisms and improve
outcome in cancer therapy.
WHY USE NUTRITION IN CANCER
TREATMENT?
1) Avoiding malnutrition
40% or more of cancer patients actually die from malnutrition,
not from the cancer. Nutrition therapy is essential to arrest
malnutrition.
2) Reducing the toxic effects of
chemo & radiation
Properly nourished patients experience less nausea, malaise,
immune suppression, hair loss, and organ toxicity than patients on
routine oncology programs. Antioxidants like beta carotene, vitamin C,
vitamin E, and selenium appear to enhance the effectiveness of chemo,
radiation, and hyperthermia, while minimizing damage to the patient's
normal cells, thus making therapy more of a "selective toxin." An
optimally-nourished cancer patient can better tolerate the rigors of
cytotoxic therapy.
3) Bolster immune functions
When the doctor says "We think we got it all", what he or she
is really saying is "We have destroyed all DETECTABLE cancer cells, and
now it is up to your immune system to find and destroy the cancer cells
that inevitably remain in your body." A billion cancer cells are about
the size of the page number at the top of this page. We must rely on
the capabilities of the 20 trillion cells that compose an intact immune
system to destroy the undetectable cancer cells that remain after
medical therapy. There is an abundance of data linking nutrient intake
to the quality and quantity of immune factors that fight cancer.
4) Sugar feeds cancer
Tumors are primarily obligate glucose metabolizers, meaning
"sugar feeders". Americans not only consume about 20% of their
calories from refined sucrose, but often manifest poor glucose tolerance
curves, due to stress, obesity, low chromium and fiber intake, and
sedentary lifestyles.
5) Anti-proliferative factors
Certain nutrients, like selenium, vitamin K, vitamin E
succinate, and the fatty acid EPA, appear to have the ability to slow
down the unregulated growth of cancer. Various nutrition factors,
including vitamin A, D, folacin, bioflavonoids, and soybeans, have been
shown to alter the genetic expression of tumors.
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Finnish oncologists used high doses of nutrients along with
chemo and radiation for lung cancer patients. Normally, lung cancer is a
"poor prognostic" malignancy, with a 1% expected survival at 30 months
under normal treatment.. In this study, however, 8 of 18 patients (44%)
were still alive 6 years after therapy.
In a non-randomized clinical trial, Drs. Hoffer and Pauling
instructed patients to follow a reasonable cancer diet (unprocessed food
low in fat, dairy, and sugar), coupled with therapeutic doses of
vitamins and minerals. All 129 patients in this study received
concomitant oncology care. The control group of 31 patients who did not
receive nutrition support lived an average of less than 6 months. The
group of 98 cancer patients who did receive the diet and supplement
program were categorized into 3 groups:
-Poor responders (n=19) or 20% of treated group. Average
lifespan of 10 months, or a 75% improvement over the control group.
-Good responders (n=47), who had various cancers, including
leukemia, lung, liver, and pancreas; had an average lifespan of 72
months (6 years) or a 1,200% improvement in lifespan.
-Good female responders (n=32), with involvement of
reproductive areas (breast, cervix, ovary, uterus); had an average
lifespan of over 10 years, or a 2,100% improvement in lifespan. Many
were still alive at the end of the study.
Oncologists at West Virginia Medical School randomized 65
patients with transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder into either the
"one-per-day" vitamin supplement providing the RDA, or into a group
which received the RDA supplement plus 40,000 iu of vitamin A, 100 mg of
B-6, 2,000 mg of vitamin C, 400 iu of vitamin E, and 90 mg of zinc. At
10 months, tumor recurrence was 80% in the control group (RDA
supplement) and 40% in the experimental "megavitamin" group. Five year
projected tumor recurrence was 91% for controls and 41% for
"megavitamin" patients. Essentially, high dose nutrients cut tumor
recurrence in half.
Of the 200 cancer patients studied who experienced
"spontaneous regression", 87% made a major change in diet, mostly
vegetarian in nature, 55% used some form of detoxification, and 65% used
nutritional supplements.
Researchers at Tulane University
compared survival in patients who used the macrobiotic diet versus
patients who continued with their standard Western lifestyle. Of 1,467
pancreatic cancer patients who made no changes in diet, 146 (1%) were
alive after one year, while 12 of the 23 matched pancreatic cancer
patients (52%) consuming macrobiotic foods were still alive after one
year. In examining the diet and lifespan of 675 lung cancer patients
over the course of 6 years, researchers found that the more vegetables
consumed, the longer the lung cancer patient lived. By adding an
aggressive nutrition component to your comprehensive cancer treatment
program, you improve the odds for a complete remission/regression and
probably add significantly to quality and quantity of life.
NUTRITIONAL ONCOLOGY PROGRAM SHOULD INCLUDE:
1) Food. If the gut works and if the patient can consume
enough food through the mouth, then this is the primary route for
nourishing the patient. The diet for the cancer patient should be high
in plant food (grains, legumes, colorful vegetables, some fruit),
unprocessed (shop the perimeter of the grocery store), low in salt, fat,
and sugar, with adequate protein (1-2 grams/kilogram body weight).
2) Supplements. Additional
vitamins, minerals, amino acids, food extracts (i.e. bovine cartilage),
conditionally essential nutrients (i.e. fish, flax, and borage oil;
coenzyme Q-10), and botanicals (i.e. echinacea, goldenseal, astragalus)
can enhance the patient's recuperative powers.
3) Total parenteral nutrition
(TPN). There are many cancer patients who are so malnourished (weight
loss of 10% below usual body weight within a 1 month period and/or serum
albumin below 2.5 mg/dl) that we must interrupt this deterioration with
TPN. When the patient cannot or will not eat adequately, TPN can be an
invaluable life raft during crucial phases of cancer treatment.
4) Assessment. Means of
assessment include: health history form to detect lifestyle risk
factors; physician's examination; anthropometric measurements of height,
weight, and percent body fat; calorimeter measurement of basal
metabolic needs; p and various other laboratory tests.
5) Education. A pro-active
patient can help reverse the underlying causative factors of cancer.
6)
Research. Those who advance the knowledge base have a responsibility
to properly gather data and report their findings to the world.
COURSE GOALS
By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
1) List the means of assessing for malnutrition (cachexia) in a
cancer patient.
2) Identify nutrients that may reduce the toxicity of chemo
and radiation therapy without reducing the tumoricidal activity of the
therapy.
3) Recognize foods that may be of benefit in bolstering the
patient's immune system.
4) Prepare a diet that has a low glycemic index in order to
lower patient blood glucose levels and possibly slow tumor growth.
5) Recite 3 nutrients that have demonstrated activity as
"biological response modifiers" against cancer.

Date(s): |
Sunday,
August 15 (SUC2) |
|
Description: |
Planetary configurations symbolize personal
myths that determine thoughts, feelings, and perceptions. These myths
have their origins in childhood experiences, which serve as prototypes
for all later experience. Although the astrological chart symbolizes our
personal narrative, the psyche is intrinsically dynamic and constantly
evolving within the framework of that narrative. Character is not fixed,
but malleable, molded by choices freely made. Fate reflects the
unfoldment of character and acts as a spur to its further development.
In this workshop, we'll examine the charts of famous
individuals--scientists, artists, sports heroes and politicians-who
converted the pain of difficult childhoods into transcendent gifts that
enabled them to rise to extraordinary heights.

Date(s): |
Saturday,
August 14 (SAB4) |
|
Description: |
The science of Cymatics offers a
window into the hidden workings of nature. As we witness audible sounds
exciting sand and water into life-like, flowing forms, we can begin to
visualize the mysterious mechanisms animating our world.
Cymatics demonstrates the creative potential of sound, but
this process is not restricted to the realm of dense physical matter.
Once we understand these causative principles, we can apply them to
every aspect of our lives, including the subtle vibrations of
perception, feeling, emotion, thought and belief--all of which must be
brought into coherency in order to experience "sound health."
Through scientific method, music and poetry, we will
heighten our awareness of these diverse elements at play around and
within us.

Dreams and Problem-Solving Skills (Workshop) |
 |
Presented
By: |
Dr.
Miloslava Kozmova |
Date(s): |
Saturday,
August 14 (SAB5) |
|
Description: |
The workshop titled Dreams and
Problem-Solving is the second of three separate yet interconnected
workshops that are designed to teach participants advanced skills for
dream content analysis.
The basic premise of this educationally oriented workshop
rests in understanding that problems in one's waking life that need
attention could be reflected in the individual's dreams. In addition,
the challenges the dreamer encounters and tactics he or she uses in
dreams might point out the individual's problem-solving capacities
relevant for similar dilemmas experienced during waking life. Hence, the
workshop pursues the following goals: (a) defining the problems of
waking life from several different positions; (b) figuring out the
challenges that a dream poses by becoming familiar with the concept of
personal mythology (Feinstein & Krippner, 1997); (c) defining the
process of problem-solving in dreams in terms of capacities and
negotiating skills; and (d) juxtaposing the old and new ways of
negotiating the dilemmas and problems that a dream presents within the
dream scenario with the intention to expand the awareness about
problem-solving skills. To accomplish these goals, the workshop will
utilize the format of instructive explanation, discussion, learning,
application, and practicing the skills in dyads and in the groups.
After introducing themselves to other participants and
defining for themselves individual learning goals for this workshop
aimed at awareness and expansion of problem-solving skills, the
attendees will learn about the various angles from which it is possible
to identify a problem. Then the participants will become familiar with
the concepts of personal mythology (Feinstein & Krippner, 1997) and
will take the problem identification a step further to see it from the
viewpoint of dream elements (Feinstein & Krippner, 1979). The next
skill, rewriting the dream (Cartwright & Lamberg, 1992;
Kaplan-Williams, 1991), will serve as a shift towards learning to become
aware of the capacities of dreamers to problem-solve (through
comparisons and asking questions) and to identify the maneuvers and
tactics that guide the negotiations of problematic situations in dreams.
During this segment of the workshop, participants will learn the skill
of analyzing the problem-solving strategies by looking closely, with
particular questions in mind (Glaser, 1987; Glaser & Strauss, 1967),
at the content of the dreams of others and their own dreams.
To practice these specific dream content analysis skills and
to expand the capacities to problem-solve and strategize, participants
will examine some dilemmas related to personal mythology (defined as
stories that guided the past; Feinstein & Krippner, 1979). This
examination aims to expand participants' awareness of dreamers' skills
identified in the content of dreams and to interface them with
anticipated challenges of waking life. In view of this learning goal,
upon application of individual skills to analyze dream content, the
participants will solidify their gains by conversing and relating their
experiences about learning and using new techniques.
At the conclusion of this dream content analysis workshop
designed to increase knowledge of viewpoints about problem-solving and
using problem-solving skills in challenging situations, the participants
will be able to:
1. Identify the problem presented by a dream from at least two
different perspectives.
2. Define three parts of the concept of personal mythology.
3. Identify at least three new problem-solving skills
applicable for challenging situations.
Upon completion, participants will fill out a questionnaire
about the quality of the workshop, teaching, gains, and suggestions for
improvements.

Dream Story as a Way to Knowledge (Workshop) |
 |
Presented
By: |
Dr.
Miloslava Kozmova |
Date(s): |
Friday,
August 13 (FRC1) |
|
Description: |
The workshop titled Dream Story
as a Way to Knowledge is the first in a series of three separate yet
interconnected workshops that are designed to teach participants the
essential skills for dream content analysis.
This introductory educationally oriented workshop pursues the
following goals: (a) to familiarize participants with the notion that
the content of a dream as a story might act, in addition to other
proposed functions, as a source of valuable information about the
dreamer's concerns of waking life; (b) to bring into light, through
appreciative inquiry (Cooperrider & Whitney, 2005), the similarities
and differences between the success stories of business life and
personal stories reflected in dreams; and (c) to teach the essential
skills necessary for dream content analysis. To accomplish these goals,
the workshop will utilize instructive explanations, learning by
observation and application, and practicing the skills in dyads and in
groups.
After introducing themselves to other participants and setting
their individual learning goals, attendees will learn, through
explanation and examples, about the proposed functions of dreams among
which belongs the view of dreams as means to gaining valuable
information presented in a form of a story waiting to be examined. The
introductory part of the workshop will then shift to working with
appreciative inquiry, which focuses on retelling of stories of
accomplishments and includes appreciations of strengths that guided the
previous professional success (Cooperrider & Whitney, 2005). This
section will be connected with the proposition that the stories of the
past --in life and in dreams--could influence the future (Feinstein
& Krippner, 1997).
Similarly, within the previously introduced frameworks of
dream function, dream as a story, and inquiry through analysis focused
on the content of dream, the participants will next learn to work with
the retold stories of dreams. The attendees, through learning about
eight different techniques and then practicing them in dyads and groups,
will progress toward becoming skilled in applying the specific methods
of inquiry to dream content. These skills (e.g., review via dream
elements, identification, role-play, free association, extension, and
summarizing; Feinstein & Krippner, 1997) will be taught in an
atmosphere oriented toward expanding participants' competencies. Hence,
the first application of skills will occur on practice dreams before the
participants move on to applying the skills to their own dreams. Upon
application of individual skills to analysis of dream content, the
participants will solidify their learning by conversing and relating
their experiences about working with various techniques.
At the conclusion of this introductory workshop dedicated to
learning the essential techniques of dream content analysis, the
participants will be able to:
1. List at least three different functions of dreams.
2. Define at least two basic strengths relevant for creating
successful stories in their professional lives that could be reflected
in their dreams.
3. Apply at least three different techniques of dream content
analysis to the stories of their dreams.
Upon completion, participants will fill out a questionnaire
regarding the quality of the content of the workshop, teaching, gains,
and suggestions for improvements.

The workshop, designed to teach advanced
dream content analysis skills, focuses on instructing and training the
attendees how to use the technique of the dream interview. The method
consist of four steps and six strategies, and highlights the attitude of
the interviewer, dream image, metaphor, change, and dream elements

feelings, guessing the absurd or the opposite, differences, oscillation
of focusing and flexibility, and restatement). This workshop, which
builds on the ability to engage in exploration, presupposes previous

Date(s): |
Friday,
August 13 (FRB5) |
|
Description: |
Some of the attributes of being
awareness, such as living in abundance, experiencing timelessness and
spontaneous participation, are experienced in rare moments by almost
everyone, but these ways of being usually pass. Most consider them to be
anomalies rather than sustainable ways of being. We will explore the
ways in which one can live in participatory awareness as a way of life.
The emergence into being awareness will be taking place over an extended
period of time with various aspects becoming more evident as its
evolution progresses. During the course of this workshop, we will lay
the groundwork to prepare ourselves for this revolutionary method
existence.
We will explore how we can fully open to this shift in
consciousness and allow the change in our way of being to occur in order
to enhance our relationship with the present moment.

The Role of Entheogens in Becoming a Whole/Healed Human
Being |
 |
Presented
By: |
Swami
Ajaya |
Date(s): |
Monday,
August 16 (MOA3) |
|
Description: |
We will explore how an integration of spiritual practices,
psychotherapy, receiving bodywork and using psychedelics in an optimal
setting can lead to lasting and profound changes in our personality
structure and our sense of well-being. The use of consciousness
sacramentals in combination with these other practices can enhance our
capacity to shed ongoing suffering and a limited sense of ourselves.
When entheogens are used in the context of these other ways of
self-discovery, a catalytic or synergistic effect can be created,
freeing us from non-functional patterns and leading to greater self
revelation.

Date(s): |
Sunday,
August 15 (SUC3) |
|
Description: |
In this presentation we find the ‘cymatic’
thread that weaves all the wonder of the natural world of balance and
resonance. Vibrational shapes detected through current technology
correlate the microcosm of the human body—our cells, our DNA, that
mirror of the macrocosm of the galaxies.
We explore the geometry of five acoustic frequencies in
union with the energy spectrum of color and a dynamic magnetic field
that inductively links with the cells’ to regenerate tissue and relieve
pain.
Witness the results of technological instruments which
generate specific sound frequencies to stimulate muscles, organs and
bones to their natural state of resonance. See the phenomenal proof of
healing with audible sound frequencies by utilizing diagnostic
ultrasound, MRI, thermography & x-rays. Join Mandara as we ride
the beam from ancient healing temples to the medicine of the future!

The Zodiac and the Growth Process: Twelve Steps

Dr.
Glenn Perry |

Date(s): |
Friday,
August 13 (FRB3) |
|
Description: |
The zodiac not only symbolizes the structure and dynamics
of the human psyche, but also models the evolutionary unfoldment of
consciousness. In this workshop, we’ll explore how zodiac signs can be
understood as basic needs, developmental stages, and distinct time-space
perspectives. We will also examine how the zodiac represents a
diagnostic model that is compatible with modern classification systems.
Zodiacal signs can mutate into specific personality disorders when their
attributes hypertrophy to unbalanced extremes. Each sign's unique
behavioral attributes derive from its developmental task and its
orientation in time and space. The ultimate goal is wholeness—a
balanced, harmonious expression of all twelve signs.

Why Women Should Rule the World |
 |
Presented
By: |
Dee
D. Myers |
Date(s): |
Monday,
August 16 (MOA1) |
|
Description: |
Ms. Myers’ new book, Why Women Should Rule
the World (Harper Collins, 2008), a New York Times bestseller, makes the
case that women’s increasingly powerful role in public life is
reshaping the world -- and making it better. And it’s not because women
are the same as men, she says, but often because of the ways they are
different. Blending memoir, social history, and a call to action, Ms.
Myers argues that empowering women makes business more productive,
politics more representative, and communities healthier and fairer. In a
highly competitive and increasingly fractious world, women possess the
kind of critical problem-solving skills that are urgently needed to
break down barriers, build understanding, and create the best conditions
for peace. In other words, it’s not about political correctness; it’s
about self-interest.
She also speaks personally and eloquently about the issues
facing women in Washington and in leadership positions of all kinds.

World Futures and Archetypal Cosmology |
 |
Presented
By: |
Dr.
Glenn Perry |
Date(s): |
Saturday,
August 14 (SAB3) |
|
Description: |
Archetypal cosmology is the emerging study
of correlations between cyclical alignments of the planets and
archetypal patterns in human experience. Combining astronomy with modern
depth psychology, archetypal cosmology explores how the shifting
patterns of world history, culture, art, and politics are reflective of
ever changing planetary movements. In this workshop, we will examine the
theoretical basis for these correlations and their implications for a
wider worldview. Emphasis is placed on how pioneering individuals
interact with major planetary alignments and thereby become catalysts
for cultural transformation. Workshop participants explore how their own
capacity for a participatory relationship with the cosmos can
contribute to the creation of a positive, more hopeful future.
